Week 4 Journal

This week I always feel good when the kids come or run to me and hug me. It makes me feel as if they are happy that I'm in their class. I very much enjoy spending time with these kids so I guess they apprciate the time I put in with working with them.
I hope that for the rest of me coop placement it would change because I like alot here and I wouldn't mind being there more often. Too bad its a school and I can't come on weekends, but out of the time I have I am honoured to have this oppurtunity to do coop.
I think being with these kids and with the teachers it really brings out my creative side, and gives me some new unique ideas for my future reference.

Friday March 23

Mrs. Slomka's class was pretty fun today, and it went by too fast.
She wanted me to help her with this Easter chick assignment. I had to mix half a cup of glue and two full cups of shaving cream. Mix it all together and add a couple drops of yellow food colouring. What I created out of that is the body of the chicks that the kids were designing with. I had to put two gloops of that yellow shaving cream and the kids would have to shape the chick on how they wanted it.

Thursday March 22

Mrs. Greer's class today went by pretty fast. Probably due to, me doing something every minute of the afternoon. I basically did the same thing today as I did in Mrs. Trecrose's class. The kids painted too, but some of them still had to colour their vases. I helped out the kids by mixing the colours white and black to make gray. Then I just cleaned up in the end and was dismissed to go home.

Wednesday March 21

In Mrs. Trecrose's class today I helped her out by helping the kids paint. They had to mix white paint and black paint together to get the colour gray, and make finger prints on this plant they drew. I didn't get to help all of them because this task was time consuming and I would of had to clean up each time a child sat in the same seat. At the end of the day the table I was sitting at (where the kids were sitting with me) was probably the colour gray due to the mess but I cleaned it up(thank goodness it was washable paint).

Tuesday March 20

Mrs. Rogulski was already in her class when I arrived at around noon so I started off me day earlier. Today I took down some winter and penguin pictures due to the kids have already done their penguin projects and presented them to the class.
For about 20 mins, I watched some movie about the senses that we have(scientific movie), with the kids. Mrs. Rogulski had to step out the class for a couple minutes so she asked if I could watch over her kids for that period of time.

Monday March 19

Mrs. Skilton's class was more quiet than ususally, proabably because the kids just came back from the break. She asked me if I could take down snowflakes, and construstion paper from the bulletin board, and staple green consrution paper for spring time. Finishing that, she asked if I could trace each childs hand(their right and their left), for an assisngment they will be doing on chicks for Easter. It was time to get ready and go home, I helped out the kids on getting dressed, and said goodbye.

Week 3 Journal

Getting to co-op on time is important. As long as I am at my classroom at 12:20pm, that when I usually start off my afternoon at my placement. I have no been late I uaually come at around noon just to get an idea of what and who I will be working with.
Some days the teachers have alot for me to do but other days I just watch and listen what the kids do and teachers on a daily basis. Most of the time I do some marking for teachers or sometimes I help out the kids if they need help on a specific activity.
I was frustrated when a child in Grade 1 "joking around"with me and telling me all the "funny"jokes non'stop and each tme I would tell him to stop, he would eventually stop but in 5 minutes he would start again with the jokes. Only once I was frustrated, the rest of the time I am there I enjoy my placment very much.
I am glad and so are the teachers on how we are finally close to the March Break, and that today was the last day.
