Wednesday February 28
I was in Mrs. Trecrose's grade one class today. She was surprised to see me because ususally I would come to her class on Friday, but Mrs. Slumka changed my schedule. At the begin she didn't really have anything for me to do. Once she remebered a couple things she had to mark, she gave them to me. I mark the kids spelling and grammar(punctuation) on a little paragraph they had to write about their favourite toy. Some of the writing I couldn't understand, so I asked for her help with the spelling of some words. Once I finished marking the paragraphs, she asked me if I could staple in some math sheets into their math workbooks. At the end of the day some of the kids had trouble putting on their snow pants and zipping up their jackets, so I helped them out and once the bell rang, they went home and so did I.
Tuesday February 27
Today I was in Mrs. Rogulski's grade one class. She asked me to sort out levels for each book. The books were in plastic zip lock bags and there were more than one of the same book that I had to put in the same ziplock bag. The levels were aa(easiest level)A, B, C, D, E, F, H, I, J(harder level reading). Once I was finished I had to label the three big buckets she handed me. One was from aa-C, the second D-F, and the third bucket was H-J. The second task Mrs. Rogulski gave me is just to sort out a cabinet of coloured papers she had. The rest of the day I just watched the grade one's practise a song for a presentation on Wednesday(school speeches).
Week 1 Journal
The first few days are over and I have communicated well with the teachers I am with, and the students that I help. The beginning of the week was confusing due to Mrs. Slumka changing my schedule. I didn't mind the fact that she was changing me from place to place but each day I would come into the school and not know where my afternoon began. Now she gave me the correct and finished schedule of the week. Mondays-Mrs. Skliton, which is a JK afternoon teacher. Tuesday's-Mrs. Rogulski, which is a grade one teacher. Wednesday-Mrs. Tercorse, also a grade one teacher. Thursday-Mrs. Greer, the last grade one teacher and Friday-Mrs. Slumka, which teaches SK in the afternoon. I think I made a good impression of myself when anything was offered to me I didn't deny it, I accepted. I think I was open enough to the kids and more so to the teachers. I felt welcome at my placement because it was sort of my elementry school only for grade eight, but I felt like everyone was looking up to me. At my placement I have to wear my uniform so I am recongnized as a high school volenteer. So far I have marked math, helped out kids on reading, writing, telling time, and helping them with cleaning up after playtime. Thats a summery of my first week at St. Andrews Elementry School.

Friday February 23
I was in Mr. T class today. She's a grade one teacher. During my time there she asked me if I could mark her math tests, because she needed those math marks for her kids 2nd term report cards. Once I finished marking all of them I had a couple sheets that were not complete. I gave her those sheets and she kindly asked if I could take those kids that didn't finish their test to take them to the library to complete them. I took a boy named Christian, another named Andrew, and a very adorable girl named Elisa. Once they finished I had to put a song sheet on the back of every kids Poems, Songs booklet, that they had to learn over the weekend.
Thursday February 22
In the beginning when I arrived at Mrs. Slomka's class I had to glue a couple papers for her so the kids could do their activities the next day. After finishing this task she asked me, Sonia, and a girl named Cathy to levels some books. The levels were from A being the easiest to read to T being the hardest. These books were hard to level due to the fact that we had to look at the books specifically and follow the correct level option. We ended leveling these books in Mrs. Rogalski's classroom due to all the grades 1-3 were on a school feild trip, at the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Wednesday February 21
Walking into Mrs. Slomka's class before the children arrived from lunch, I was switched once again to a different classroom. I was in a Grade 3 class today with a teacher named Mrs. Ostner. In her class she asked me if I could just help out if any of the children had problems with reading, telling time, and writing activites. There was this one kid named Brandon that couldn't focus on listening to the teacher so I would have to remind him to listen and write down what she was teaching every five minutes. My schedule has changed a little bit more, all i know is that I am in a different class each week. Meaning Monday's I'm for sure with Mrs. Skilton, but after that day I'm not sure what classes I have to go to. Mrs. Slomka told me she will have my schedule ready for tomorrow, and most likely will be in her class marking papers.

Tuesday February 20
It's the second day and I already know all the kids names. And thankfully they know mine. I met with the kids teacher which is Mrs. Skilton. I also got my schedule which I will be working with grades JK and SK. On Monday's, and Tuesday's I am in Mrs. Skilton's JK classroom. From Wedneday-Friday I am in Mrs. Slonka's SK classroom. I have only been with Mrs. Skilton and she's polite and has alot of patience. Today I emptied and filled the kids "Mail Bag's" that are just zip lock bags that the kids take home, to show their parents new events coming up. At play time I walked around and talked with some of the children and cleaned up with them.
Monday February 19
Today was my first day at my co-op placement. My co-op placement is at St. Andrews Elementry School. On the first day, I didn't meet the teacher due to her being absent, but met Mrs. D which was a supply for the rest of the day. Mrs. D had some trouble controlling the kids. They wouldn't listen to her as if they would to their current teacher. I helped Mrs. D by getting the kids undressed from being outside and getting them dressed to go home. I also helped with stamping the kids finished work. I learned some of the children's name but not quite all of them. By the end of the day Mrs. D was glad that we made it through the afternoon alright.
